We are currently looking for a treasurer with experience of budget management and financial forecasting. The role involves oversight of the organisation’s finances, including putting more formal financial controls in place, advising on the financial implications of major decisions, working with other board members to prepare the annual budget, presenting regular financial reports to the board, and liaising with our accountants to ensure the annual accounts are submitted correctly. Board meetings are currently monthly (this may reduce in future) and we hope you would be able to attend most of them, as well as the AGM in January.
About us
Norwich FarmShare is a community benefit society established in 2011. Our vision is to support food systems that educate, connect and empower local communities to be healthier and more resilient, and to experience a direct relationship with how our food is produced.
We do this by providing fruit and veg to our members every week, combining what we grow on our Whitlingham farm with produce we buy in from other local projects. We distribute these bags to our city Hub for members to collect, or for delivery by our cycle delivery team.
In March 2016 we lost our original farm at Postwick and had no land for two years. Since then, it has been challenging to get our membership numbers up to a financially sustainable level. We now have a new board of directors in place and are working towards professionalising our operations, as well as embarking on a marketing drive to recruit new members.
Our turnover last year was just over £32,000 – this will rise significantly if we reach our target membership numbers. We need a treasurer with relevant experience to ensure our financial systems are equal to our ambitions for FarmShare.
